She sagged back against him as she slowly came back down, her breathing slowly evening out. She wanted to stay there, safe and loved in his arms, but the water was growing cold and despite the heat outside she could already feel a chill running up her spine.

He lifted her up with him like she weighed nothing and she didn’t protest. Clint never made her feel weak, he knew better than anyone how strong and dangerous she was, but he liked to take care of her, and sometimes it was nice to be taken care of.

“Good is a bit of an understatement,” she said, grinning at him as he toweled her off. Taking the towel from his hands, she wrapped it around herself before stepping out onto the mat, beckoning for him to follow her. “We have plenty of time to relax, but today I think we should go to one of your favourite restaurants, maybe take a walk along the beach, and go to bed early to get our clocks reset. What do you think?”
