His words irritated her.  She knew she had a deadline, she knew she had to figure this out, and if his only contribution to the whole situation was to remind her of that then she wished she would have gone in alone.  He kept pushing her to decide if she wanted this baby, but what about him?  Did he not care either way?

She knew that wasn’t true, she knew it was just her fear and confusion talking.  She had held him while he cried yesterday, had watched him let his anger out in the basement; the last thing she could ever accuse Clint of was not caring.  She recognized the signs, that emotional detachment, as that was how she had been dealing with this so far. 

It seemed one of them always had to act strong and swallow their emotions.  That wasn’t exactly healthy.

His touch was cold, unfeeling, but she leaned into it anyway and closed her eyes.  They would never get through this if she kept looking for reasons to lash out at him, to take out all her frustrations on the one person who loved her above everything else.  That was what this was about for him.
