Her words had the desired effect, and while it was weak it was still a chuckle. She knew he’d recognize her choice of words no matter how tired and disoriented he was.

Leaning her forehead against his she smiled softly, her fingers following his hairline and brushing back behind his ear. “It’s okay,” she said easily. “You know I don’t require much sleep to feel rested.”

She had trained her body well over the years to not just function but be completely alert on very little sleep. Perhaps not healthy, but it was training she wasn’t about to let lax. It seemed highly useful even now.
