She very nearly threw up again when it came to spitting out the toothpaste, but she managed to hold it back to just a few gags, mostly because she had nothing left to bring up. When she was finished she wrapped herself in Clint’s sweater again before exiting the bathroom, the bottle of water he had so thoughtfully provided in hand.
Hanging back while he dealt with their little charge, she winced at the power struggle before offering a sympathetic look when he finally got the carrier closed a little worse for wear. “You should probably clean those first,” she said of the wounds. They were minor scratches, but until they got the kitten checked out they probably shouldn’t be too careless. “I’ll take her to the car.”
Taking the carrier out with her, she settled into the passenger seat and held it on her lap, not wanting to jostle the poor thing too much. "I know, it's not nice being caged," she said soothingly to the cries emanating from the box. "But it's only for a short time and it will be worth it, promise." She only hoped she could say the same about her own appointment.
