Natasha had already built a picture in her mind of what she expected to see: Clint dressed all in black from his boots to that strangely sexy archery glove, arms taut as he lined up his shot, soulful blue eyes fixed on the target. What she hadn’t expected was to find him with company, particularly the blonde in his arms. He had been smiling when she walked in, smiling as he hugged this other woman, but the smile fell when he noticed Natasha.
The anticipation and excitement she had felt only moments ago vanished.
“I’m sorry to interrupt,” she said, voice cool and professional and her expression going blank. She looked at the blonde when the woman turned to face her; of course she was beautiful. “I just wanted to inform Agent Barton that my mission concluded early.” Her eyes moved to the brunette and then back to Clint. “We can catch up later.”
